Why a code list goes stale so fast
Three mechanics kill Chipotle codes quickly. The first is capping. A campaign code is issued with a redemption
limit, and once the cap is hit the code fails for everyone even though its published end date has not arrived.
The second is regional issue. Marketing runs by market, so a code that works in Dallas returns an area error in
Boston with no explanation on screen. The third is account binding. First order codes attach to the account
rather than the device, so a code that worked for a friend fails on an account that has already ordered.
None of that shows up in a coupon site listing, which is why those pages carry a working rate somewhere near one
in ten. Listing the date each code was checked does not fix the underlying problem, but it does let you judge
whether a code is worth twenty seconds of your evening.
The coupons that never expire
Four things behave like permanent Chipotle coupons and none of them needs a code. Free guacamole on the Veggie
Bowl, Veggie Burrito, Sofritas Bowl and Sofritas Burrito is worth $2.95 on every single order.
Free delivery on direct orders above $10 removes a fee that a marketplace charges for the same food. The birthday
reward hands members a $2.95 side once a year. And ordering direct rather than through a
marketplace avoids a menu markup that commonly runs $5 to $8 on a $25 order.
Add those up across a year of ordering twice a month and they beat every published code on this page combined.
The full mechanics sit on the Rewards guide and the
free guac page.
Stacking, and the one rule that governs it
Chipotle accepts one promotional code per order in the United States. A redeemed Rewards offer occupies the same
slot, so a half price entree and a dollar off code cannot run together. What does stack sits on different layers.
A gift card bought during a bonus promotion is a payment method rather than a discount, so it can pay for an
order that also carries a code and still earns points. That is the only genuine three way stack available.
The practical order of operations is: apply the code or reward that saves the most on this particular basket,
pay with a discounted gift card, and make sure the order is tied to your Rewards account so the points land.
The redemption walkthrough covers where each field sits on each
screen.
